Our therapeutic methods

Behavioural therapy is recognised under German psychotherapy guidelines as scientifically established and cost-effective. A transparent process and patients’ active participation are central to behavioural methods. The aim is to help you understand your situation and develop practical options for action within a foreseeable period. These approaches are largely focused on the present and on solutions.

We offer a wide range of predominantly behavioural techniques, from acceptance and commitment therapy to goal analysis. Treatment is adapted to you individually. Below is an alphabetical list of commonly used methods. It is not exhaustive; please ask us if you are looking for a particular method.

  • Mindfulness training
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Life-history work
  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
  • Relaxation techniques
  • Pleasure-focused therapeutic techniques
  • Exposure techniques
  • Cognitive behavioural therapy
  • Communication training
  • Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT)
  • Schema therapy
  • Assertiveness and social skills training
  • Problem-solving and goal analysis

How your therapy begins

1. Initial psychotherapy consultation

At your first appointment, you meet the therapist who will treat you. We discuss what brought you to us and what you would like to achieve. We clarify practical questions about the process and agree which treatment approach to use.

2. Assessment sessions

These initial assessment sessions, usually two to four, allow a more detailed diagnostic assessment and the development of an individual treatment plan based on your goals. They also give us time to get to know one another. It is important that you feel comfortable with your therapist and the treatment environment. If your health insurer is covering treatment costs, we prepare the relevant application together at the end of these sessions.

3. Treatment phase

Together, we then move step by step towards understanding and change. This can be challenging as well as rewarding. We see psychotherapy as help towards helping yourself and support you with useful impulses. The length of this phase depends on factors including your goals, motivation and cost coverage. Your therapist will keep discussing progress and the next steps with you.
